DIY Satellite Tracking project Hi all
Ive had this idea rolling around in my head about making a diy Satellite tracking system for my car...Why?, just to see if i can really.
I already have a couple of gps recievers and an ipaq pda.
I would like to find a way to set up the gps running through the pda
The pda would need to recieve and send the coordinates from the gps over the net to my computer.
My first thoughts on this was to find some software for the pda that would periodically email the coordinates to me.
Then ideally some software that would listen for the emails and enter them into a mapping program like google earth or sat nav.
So i have a few problems to solve.
1) Software for the pda
2) software for the pc
3) Where i will get a mobile internet connection
The most reliable mobile internet connection would be through gprs but might be quite costly.
Another possible way would be to use unsecured private networks to transmit he coordinates although this would be very hit and miss.
More likely the software would have to be written specifically for this purpose but ive never got my head around programming.
If anyone has any other ideas on this or knows of any suitable software, id like to hear from you.
