| Hello ppl i recently was asked by a m8 ov mine to help remove a virus/trojan he acquired namely "Downloader.Generic2.muz". Hes using AVG free and spybot and adware etc, I tryed to help talk him through it but it was no good id av to pay a visit. On arrival i set out to do a lil background huntin on the problem and many ppl were stuck with the same problem they couldn't remove it properly jus put it in the vault or heal it neither fixed or removed it as it re appeared on reboot. The offending file was located in "C:\docs'n'settins\username\localsettins\temp internet files". I tryed to delete everything in the folder to no avail there were a few files remaining that would not remove and the "Downloader.Generic2.muz" was nowhere in sight, so i tryed to replace the temp internet file with a empty folder of the same name try to overwrite the folder with an empty one to fool it into removin the files, This didnt work either " {SO on to the GOOD STUFF} This is how i worked around it, Its not highly technical jus used another means around it ![]() ill try make it as easy as possible to follow plz excuse :P Step 1: Back up all ur IE Firefox or wateva bookmarks Favs u have (C: drive) 2: Copy all ur My Docs on to another drive or to the (C: ) 3: Goto Start bar right klik on My Computer klik properties Hit "System Restore" tab \ Disable "System Restore" Apply 4: Goto Control panel \ User Accounts *Make sure u have admin rights* 5: Create a new *Admin* Account in a similar name 6: Log out \ log back in using the new account 7: Delete the old Account and be sure to "Delete all Account Files" 8: Reboot computer, Watch in amazement as AVG is happy 9: Follow Step 3 but re-enable "System Restore" if u like that crap 10: Replace your My Docs contents from stored location and import ur Favs back into ur web browser Hope This help you guys out as i couldn't find any where that could give me removal info for this file. (also this might work for other variants of this file located in the Temp Internet Files folder that cant be removed) Last edited by U713 : 30-11-2006 at 03:41 AM. |
