View Full Version : getting sound from pc to lcd tv

hi folks, been a while from ive passed by the forum! to be honest i havnt really had the time but i needed help with something and i knew the guys here would be able to help me out! as always! lol i have recently bought myself a new tv, its a Samsung "LE32A457C1DXXU" 32ins HD-ready Freeview LCD TV. problem is when i try to use it as a moniter for my pc!! ive bought a svga cable and theirs no problem getting picture to the tv! everything starts to go wrong when i try to send audio! it just isnt happineng. i have bought a 3.5mm Jack to Twin Phono Lead which i thought would have been ok! ive plugged it in were my pc speakers were, and on the tv end in the red and white audo-in connectors but still i dnt get any sound! ive tried flicking threw the menu to see if there is any audio settings i need to adjust but cant come across any! tv def not on mute and pc volume up full! please help guys! WHAT COULD IT BE?

On my sammy the RCA (phono) connectors are for the HDMI port marked HDMI/DVI and there is a seperate 3.5mm input to use the speakers on the VGA source.

But I'll have a quick look for the manual...

You need to use the 3.5mm jack to the below the VGA/D-SUB (see attached image)

is that audio connection below the vga port a 3.5 jack? because the cable only has the jack on 1 end and its connected to the pc! i must have a look at tv later when i get home and check it out! i prob never seen that cuz of vga cable hanging out of tv

ok thanks alot for this post! apon reading it ive realized i have got the wrong cable! i need a 3.5 jack - 3.5 jack, thanks for the diagram mate! just solved the problem! ive just bought this on ebay so hoppefully should sort it out!

No problem.

A 3.5mm to phono is a fairly useful cable to have around anyway, e.g. allows you to connect an MP3 player to the aux on a hifi, so don't see it as a wasted purchase.

Plus you've just reminded me I need a 3.5mm extension cable... :banana4:
