Will shutting down router restore connectivity? I used to be fully connectable but a couple of weeks ago now I lost it. I was uploading and downloading a couple of things at the same time using a bittorrent client (utorrent 1.7.7) and also uploading using rapidshare when this occurred.
I know my settings are alright because I was connectable and reckon it's because I was doing too much at once that this has happened. I have however changed ports that utorrent uses, and ajusted everything on the router settings and on my windows firewall to take this change into account, without success.
I was wondering if turning my router off for a while would be any help? My router is a Linksys WRT54GS v4. I have dynamic ip and don't want to set up a static ip before lookig at all my other options. Is it possible this could clear what has gone on and let me start again?
I know these routers are notorious for connectibility but I'm a bit perplexed because I have had it going great guns in the past.
Could an update in my anti-virus software have anything to do with it? I'm running Avast 4.8HE.
Any procedure or list of things I could do to narrow down what the buggery is going on would be much appreciated. |
